New in the CRS; the Volkswagen ID. Buzz
The 75-year-old legendary Volkswagen T1 is making its comeback in the guise of a multifunctional, fully electric bus. The T1, embraced worldwide by young and old, is back in a new, ultra-modern jacket and goes by the name ID. Buzz. This new Volkswagen (added to the CRS with this database update) is available as a five-seater passenger variant and delivery van (ID. Buzz Cargo).
The first version we will encounter on public roads has a battery pack with a capacity of 77 kWh in combination with a 150 kW / 204 hp electric motor with a range of more than 400 km can be achieved. Later, ID. Buzz versions will also be available with a smaller battery pack of 60 kWh.
Using intelligent software and electronics ensures more safety—for example, the ID. Buzz can determine fatigue based on eye activity. Thanks to numerous sensors, possible dangers are detected at an early stage.
The ID. Buzz in the CRS
The ID. Buzz is available in the Crash Recovery System after downloading the most recent database update, November 2022. An essential point for attention for first responders is the deactivation of the drive system. Because the battery pack is placed under the bus, it is necessary to look where the jacking points are located. The CRS provides this with crucial information and shows the safety components’ location so that precautionary measures can be taken.
