Something had to change after several accidents and vehicle fires involving alternative-powered buses in London, in which first responders lacked vital vehicle information. That was the conclusion of Transport for London, a government organisation responsible for traffic and transport in the London conurbation.
The Transport for London indicated to all manufacturers supplying buses in the London conurbation that these buses should be included in the Moditech Crash Recovery System. In addition, the buses should also be equipped with a Rescue Sheet, which Moditech can professionally produce according to ISO-17840 standards. As with Alexander Dennis and Wrightbus, good cooperation is crucial in this regard.
Expanding the buses category
Several alternatively powered buses will be added to the CRS’s UK vehicle database in future database updates. This is excellent news, as it will give first responders quick and easy access to all rescue-relevant information on buses.
