Over the past three years, Bliksund has successfully executed this vision, enhancing its product portfolio and expanding its global presence in the emergency services sector.
Laying the Foundation in Norway
Bliksund’s expansion strategy began in 2022 with the acquisition of Norwegian competitor FlexitFire, a key player in the fire and rescue market. This move enabled the seamless transition of all FlexitFire clients to Bliksund’s GRID platform—an advanced operational management system tailored for emergency services. The acquisition solidified Bliksund’s leadership in Norway and demonstrated the company’s commitment to equipping first responders with cutting-edge digital tools.
Going Global with Incendium
Later in 2022, Bliksund expanded beyond Norway’s borders by acquiring Danish company Incendium, a leader in secure real-time video solutions for emergency response. Incendium’s technology enhances situational awareness by providing emergency services with instant, high-quality video feeds, facilitating faster and more informed decision-making. With high-profile deployments, including support for over 100,000 emergency missions annually for the Brussels Fire Department, this acquisition significantly extended Bliksund’s reach and impact on international emergency response operations.
A Strategic Match: The Moditech Acquisition
In late 2023, Bliksund continued its expansion with discussions to acquire Moditech, the global leader in digital vehicle information for first responders with the Crash Recovery System (CRS). Moditech’s SaaS solution delivers crucial vehicle safety information directly to emergency responders at accident scenes, improving decision-making and ultimately saving lives. Recognizing a strong synergy between the companies, Bliksund completed the acquisition in February 2024, further cementing its status as a global leader in digital solutions for emergency services.
The integration of Moditech is designed to ensure a smooth transition for its extensive network of over 2,000 customers, partners, and employees. Moditech’s expertise, team, and technology are now fully integrated within Bliksund, strengthening the company’s ability to provide life-saving tools and support to emergency services worldwide.
A Unified Future Under the Bliksund Brand
The final phase of this integration will be complete in the spring of 2025 when Moditech will fully transition to the Bliksund brand. Its flagship Crash Recovery System will be renamed the Bliksund Crash Recovery System (Bliksund CRS), maintaining its essential functions while benefiting from Bliksund’s broader technological ecosystem. Meanwhile, the Dutch-registered entity Moditech Rescue Solutions B.V. will be rebranded as Bliksund Netherlands B.V., continuing operations from its headquarters in Zwaag, the Netherlands.
