When first responders have to turn out to an incident involving entrapment, it is often necessary to cut open the vehicle using hydraulic tools. Here, it is not only important to know what type of car one is dealing with, the kind of door(s) also plays a significant role when cutting. Therefore, to avoid cutting into a cylinder, it is advisable to first consult the Crash Recovery System for its exact location.
Although the vast majority of passenger cars have conventional doors, there are quite a few less common doors, which may, therefore, include a cylinder in an unexpected location. To name a few types (including a contemporary example): Sliding doors (Ford Grand C-Max), Winged doors (Tesla Model X), Scissor doors(Lamborghini Aventador), Butterfly doors (BMW i8), Suicide doors (BMW i3), 1.5 doors (Fiat 500e) and there are cars with a different number of doors (Hyundai Veloster).

Many doors today are electrically operated and sometimes electrically opened. The CRS also informs if there is a mechanical unlocking. Besides the location of the cylinders, the interactive rescue sheets also include the locations of the other components and deactivation methods. So, search for the right vehicle to have all the information first responders need during a deployment.
